 Paper Airplane Drawing

Sample 1 | Sample 2 | Sample 3 | FAQs

Description

Make a color drawing of a paper airplane in the classroom.

Goals

The purpose of this drawing is to draw a connection between light and shadow and qualities of warmth and coolness. Warm colors are oranges, yellows and reds while cool colors are greens, blues and blue violets.

Process

Create a drawing of a paper airplane underneath a direct light source. Observe the changes in value from light to dark. Even though the airplane is white, substitute warm colors where you see the most intense highlights and use cool colors where you see the shadows falling on the surface of the paper airplane.

Materials

  • 18" x24" Bond paper

  • oil pastels or colored pencils

Evaluation

You will be evaluated on your ability to translate changes in light and shadow into luch and sasturated color harmonies.
