Patterned Ink Drawing
Assignment:
Create a patterned ink drawing on a sheet of 18”x24” paper. In an effort to make your drawing as powerful as possible (and then some!) fill the page completely.
Goals:
As you draw aim for keeping your mind in the moment so that you can tap into the perfect insight of your inspiration. When the process of drawing starts to become automatic, you will fall into the flow and your drawing energy will come from the alpha zone. If, however, you become too self-conscious you will fall out of the flow and your drawing will instead come from the beta zone, a more informal and less powerful source. This assignment is a way for you to get familiar with your alpha zone and to practice being in the flow.
Materials:
- Ink or Sharpie marker
- 18x24 inch Bond paper or any other paper that you might prefer
Questions to think about:
What is more important, spiritual freedom or freedom of expression?
Should art be serious or fun?
What’s more important, what you say or how you say it?
Evaluation:
You will be evaluated on your ability to invent variety and complexity in your drawing.
