Arrange a grouping of 2 or 3 volumetric objects, such as a shoeboxes, books, etc into an interesting still life that accentuates a sense of perspective and avoids head on views. Make a shaded drawing of your still life.

Place a glass of water with a spoon in it under a light source and make a value drawing of it.

Value studies: Draw a 6”x9” rectangle in your sketchbook. Divide it into a grid of randomly shaped squares, rectangles and /or triangles. With your graphite pencils, fill in each shape with a variety of solid shades, and gradients that move up/down, side to side and diagonally.

Gesture Drawings
Fill five pages of your sketch book with gesture drawings that are made from life. The ideal place to do this assignment is in a place where people gather like the Student Center, a shopping mall or a club. You can even sit in front of the TV and sketch the actors on the screen.

Build a large still life out of furniture, books, or
any other objects you find around the house (be creative!).
Make three contour drawings of it, each from a different
angle.
2nd Sketchbook Assgmt: Blind Performance Drawings

While listening to music, make a blind automatic drawing. You can make a single drawing or break it up into smaller ones but draw for 20-30 minutes.
1st Sketchbook Assgmt: Energy/Drip Drawing
Due: Thu Jan 24
On 8x11" paper make 5 drip drawings and then glue them into your sketchbook.
