Due: Sat 07/31 (beginning of class)

Description:
- Choose
a recording artist or group. Listen to their music.
- Find
visuals that relate to the recording artist(s) and the music.
- Write
an objectives statement. Define the purpose and function of this
problem, the audience and the information to be communicated.
Write down 5 adjectives that describe the music on the CD. Keep
this in front of you as you sketch out your ideas.
- Design
a compact disc cover(called a tray card).
- Choose
or design a recording label to attach to your design. The logo
should reflect the kind of music recorded on the CD.
- The
cover's design should include the recording label, name of the
CD and name of the recording artist.
- Create
a photo collage with at least three scanned images of your choosing.
You will be relying mainly on the selection tools to isolate and
cut parts of images from different sources into separate layers.
You may also use any drawing techniques we have learned in class
such as the pen tool, pencil tool, gradient, fill, filters, text
tool and etc.
- Design
the back cover of the CD.
- You
should create at least 20 sketches.
- Create
a comp from your favorite idea.
- Print
out your design and mock up as a real CD Cover for presentation
in class.
- Burn
your project onto the CD preserving the layers i.e.,don't flatten
the image
Format: While you are working, save your project
as a Photoshop file. When you have finished, save as a CMYK for
four color printing.
Document size: Check a cd package and copy those
dimensions. You may want to work larger than that and then shrink
to fit after your design is complete.
