Visual Heirarchy
Visual heirarchy means arranging elements and focal points according
to emphasis.
It is related to creating focal points but goes beyond them because
it encompasses their arrangement and priority on the page.
A typical visual heirarchy will have three levels.
- Where
do you look first?
- Where
do you look second?
- Where
do you look third?
How to create a visual heirarchy
- Decide on the importance of the elements
that make up your design.
- Use factors such as size, color, value
and visual weight to make sure your audience sees these elements
in the order of importance.
- Create a flow of information from the
most important to the least important.
