 Incorporating Photos

It is conventional for photos can be brought in as rectangular shapes and dropped into a design, working into the flow of the other elements as best as it can. But don't stop there. let's consider some other ways to work in photos.

You can use a clipping mask to create an unusual shape. For instance, cutting out the shape of a head and drawing the body around it with other tools.

Maximize the photo's graphic appeal. In practice this means reducing the amount of information in the photo. Photos that have been photocopied several times lose color and detail. They gain in brightness and contrast. The effect is of a high impact image with a dramatic, urgent profile.

Photos can be used as templates and then traced. Only the essential details remain and the effect is of a smooth clean and iconic.

Photos can be used as a background and figures and character can be drawn over it. This effect is commonly done in animations.
