Lectures/The Way of the Poster

 Using type creatively

If the poster calls for it, consider drawing your type or headlines by hand and then scan in the results

There are many ways to customize your type. In this sample from Wet Magazine, characters have been used creatively to give an exoctic effect.

Two examples of extreme type. Cut up and reassembled letterforms are used in the Fury's CD. A labeling gun was used to make the type for the CD on the bottom.

Many free fonts are available on the web. Carefully consider what type you will use for your design. Is it period appropriate? Should you use a traditional font or a contemporary one. Should you invent your own out of basic shapes and forms?
