 Weight

What kind of weight contrast are you designing with? The weight of a type face refers to the thickness of the strokes. Contrast of weight is one of the most effective kinds of contrast you can design with. Most type faces are designed to be either

  • regular

  • italic

  • bold

  • extra bold

Don't contrast a regular weight with a semi-bold when you can crank up the jams and go for the super megabold! Remember the rule: Don't be a wimp.

None of the typefaces that come standard with all computers have a very strong bold family. Just think of all those other graphic designers out there who you are competing with. How can you going to stand apart from them? By going out and investing in a set unique and beautiful typefaces.

Don't be a wimp. Max out with the boldest face you can muster.
