You may need to buy additional materials for specific projects. Individual needs may vary, so purchase materials as needed. Save your receipts so you can return any unused materials at the end of the semester.

1 - pad 18" × 24"  90 lb water color paper
1 - 1/2 inch roll of masking tape
1 - box of willow charcoal
1 - roll of paper towels
1 - Color wheel
1 - small sketch book

Brushes:  

Storage box to hold and carry supplies           
#1 round sable brush
#6 round  sable brush
#8 filbert  sable brush
#12 filbert  sable brush
#8 flat  brush
#12 flat  brush
3" house painting brush for applying gesso grounds to paper and canvas

Palette knife:
tapered, 3" (76 mm) steel blade

Acrylic Paint:    
1 - 5 oz tube titanium white
1 - 2 oz tube cadmium red deep
1 - 2 oz tube cadmium red
1 - 2 oz tube cadmium orange
1 - 2 oz tube hansa yellow
1 - 2 oz tube permanent green
1 - 2 oz tube pthalo blue
1 - 2 oz tube cerulean blue
1 - 2 oz tube cobalt blue
1 - 2 oz tube ultramarine violet
1 - 2 oz tube burnt sienna
1 - 2 oz tube yellow ochre
1 - 2 oz tube raw umber
1 - 2 oz tube ivory black or mars black

Mediums and special materials:
Retarder (slows down drying time of acrylic paint)
Gel medium (extends paint and allows for glazing)

Palette:
There are several options for paint mixing surfaces:
disposable palette paper (12"x16") or
flat dinner plate, cookie pan or any other smooth, light colored surface

For making stretchers:
Unprimed canvas
(Southwestern will supply wooden stretchers and hardware)
